The Royal Lapis.
Piaget has long been a master at merging watchmaking with jewelry craftsmanship, and this piece from the 1970s is a striking example. Known for its creative use of precious materials, Piaget’s bold designs from this era continue to stand out, and this watch is no exception. The deep blue lapis lazuli dial, accented with its natural gold flecks, evokes imagery of the night sky, giving it a timeless, almost ethereal quality.
Crafted from solid 18k yellow gold, the watch features Piaget’s signature integrated bracelet, a design choice that dominated their creations in the 70s. The seamless transition from the rectangular case to the bracelet creates a sleek, unified look that elevates the watch from accessory to statement piece.
Both the case and bracelet are meticulously finished with a bark-textured surface, a hallmark of Piaget's craftsmanship. Achieving this detailed texture requires a precise hand, giving the gold a unique, organic appearance that catches the light beautifully. It currently fits a 6 3/4inch wrist but has 4 additional links that can be added back by a jeweller to fit a 7.5inch wrist.
Unlike many models from the same period that embraced quartz technology, this piece is powered by Piaget’s manual-wound 9P1 movement—a true rarity and a nod to the brand’s commitment to traditional watchmaking. Collectors will appreciate the slimness of the movement, as well as the rarity of finding such a model in full mechanical form.
With its elegant lapis dial, gold craftsmanship, and rare mechanical movement, this Piaget Lapis is a true collector’s piece. This is more than just a watch—it’s a blend of fine art and exceptional engineering, making it a standout addition to any collection.

The dial has beautiful deep blue hue. Looking through the crystal, the lapis has no hairlines or cracks but there is a small chip in the bottom right corner when removed from the case.
