Complicated Just To Prove A Point.

Once upon a winter’s evening in Ravenna, Italy—December 12th, 1990 to be exact—this Piaget Gouverneur Triple Calendar Moonphase Ref. 15958 likely became a cherished Christmas gift, wrapped in the promise of time well spent. From the hands of a prestigious jeweler to the wrist of a lucky recipient, it embodies the elegance of a bygone era, offering more than just timekeeping. It’s a piece of Piaget’s storied journey, as the brand transitioned from jewelry decadence to the heights of haute horology.

Originally launched as part of the Gouverneur line, this reference debuted alongside some of the more complex creations Piaget —a chronograph, a petite sonnerie and even a grand sonnerie. At a time when Piaget was known more for creative glamour, the 15958 brought substance to match the style, displaying an impeccable triple calendar with moonphase complication.

The dial, made in white enamel finished by a sheen of lacquer, is undoubtedly a canvas. Three subdials—each beautifully textured—tell the day, date, and month (charmingly in Italian). And then there’s the moonphase at 6 o’clock, a miniature work of art, with golden stars against a dark sky, marking the passage of time with romantic elegance. The complication sings of the celestial cycles above, a reminder that even time is in orbit.

"A watch that blends Piaget's heritage of elegance with its technical prowess."

But for all its grandeur, this watch is surprisingly compact. Housed in an 18K yellow gold case just 33mm wide and 8mm thick, the automatic Cal. 8532P movement speaks to their long-standing expertise in developing some of the thinnest calibers on the market. The craftsmanship is evident in every angle, from the gentle patina forming on the stepped case to the deep engraving on the case-back, preserving its originality for the discerning collector.

Still in possession of its original guarantee card, instruction manual, and Piaget leather wallet, this watch offers more than a piece of timekeeping history. It’s not just a dress watch—it’s a part of Piaget’s horological resurgence in the late 20th century, and an excellent value proposition of a triple calendar from a top-tier Swiss brand.

The watch is in excellent condition.

The case lines are sharp and appear not to have been polished in the past with patina forming throughout.

The case-back features a deep hallmark and the numbering and references are clearly visible.

The dial is super clean with no blemishes to note. The moonphase illustrations are fully intact.

The Piaget leather strap has previous wear but still considerable use left.
