Once upon a winter’s evening in Ravenna, Italy—December 12th, 1990 to be exact—this Piaget Gouverneur Triple Calendar Moonphase Ref. 15958 likely became a cherished Christmas gift, wrapped in the promise of time well spent. From the hands of a prestigious jeweler to the wrist of a lucky recipient, it embodies the elegance of a bygone era, offering more than just timekeeping. Originally launched as part of the Gouverneur line, this reference debuted alongside some of the more complex creations Piaget —a chronograph, a petite sonnerie and even a grand sonnerie. At a time when Piaget was known more for creative glamour, the 15958 brought substance to match the style, displaying an impeccable triple calendar with moonphase complication.
The dial, made in white enamel finished by a sheen of lacquer, is undoubtedly a canvas. Three subdials—each beautifully textured—tell the day, date, and month (charmingly in Italian). The case lines are sharp and appear not to have been polished in the past with patina forming throughout.
The case-back features a deep hallmark and the numbering and references are clearly visible.
The dial is super clean with no blemishes to note. The moonphase illustrations are fully intact.
The Piaget leather strap has previous wear but still considerable use left.
