The Game Master.
If you grew up in the backseat of your dad’s car, Game Boy in hand, frantically blowing on the cartridge to get Tetris to load, this one might hit a little different. We nicknamed this Piaget the "Tetris" because of the way the brick-like motif on the bezel feels like a perfectly stacked high-score move. The designers at Piaget must have had their own game in mind when arranging these gold blocks into place.
The Piaget Protocole was an iconic model line that saw multiple bezel variations, dial colors, and materials. This particular version is an incredibly rare find, combining a distinctive 18K yellow gold case with a striking blue sunburst dial. The rectangular case, measuring 25mm wide, was once the larger men’s size, though it wears effortlessly on any wrist today. The case features cut corners, a signature of the Protocole line, giving it an architectural quality that adds to its presence.
The dial keeps it clean with gold Piaget lettering, sword hands, and a minimalist layout. The deep blue sunburst finish creates an interplay of light and dark that shifts depending on the angle, adding depth without distraction. The combination of blue and gold is timeless, a contrast that has worked for centuries and still feels fresh today.
Inside, the ultra-thin manual-wind Caliber 9P does the heavy lifting. When it debuted, it was the world’s thinnest mechanical movement, and it went on to power much of Piaget’s most ambitious creations. The 9P gave Piaget’s designers the freedom to push boundaries, spawning an era of bold case shapes and distinctive aesthetics. This watch is proof of how well Piaget balanced both worlds—design and mechanical execution—when most brands could only master one.
A sapphire crystal protects the dial, while a dark blue crocodile strap with an original 18K Piaget buckle ties the whole look together. The strap echoes the dial’s tones, making the watch feel cohesive and refined.
This is Piaget at its most playful and precise. A watch that doesn’t take itself too seriously but still commands attention. A design-first statement piece powered by serious watchmaking chops.
